What's it really like?

The Istanbul tour and Cappadocia trekking will take you on an adventure through the historic sights of vibrant Istanbul to the hills, caves and rock formations of Göreme in Cappadocia. Göreme is one of those rare regions in the world where the works of man blend into the natural surroundings. Cappadocia is a natural wonder and very unique in its history. We trek, exploring the surreal landforms of the Göreme valleys and follow ancient pathways to strange rock cut churches and monasteries carved from the soft volcanic tuff. Historic and natural treasures wrapped up in one adventurous journey.

Day 1

Arrive in Istanbul

Arrive in Istanbul, the colorful city where East and West meet. Check into your hotel. We are happy to organize airport pickups if needed.


Day 2


In the morning, we start our tour in the old part of Istanbul. First we visit the Ancient Hippodrome - the scene of chariot races and the center of Byzantine civil life. Then we proceed to Sultanahmet Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque because its interior gleams with a magnificent paneling of blue. In the afternoon, we will visit Topkapı Palace and Mısır Carsısı (Spice bazaar) next to Yenı mosque in Emınonu.

Day 3

Cappadocia and Göreme

In the morning fly to Kayseri airport. Meet the group there and proceed to the Cappadocia region. In the afternoon, we will walk to Paşabagları, known as the valley of the Priests. This valley is famous for its magnificent fairy chimneys and numerous caves.

Day 4

Akvadi and Pigeon valley

We trek through the Akvadi (white valley) eroded perfectly by time, rain and the wind during centuries. Follow down a seasonal river, many strange rock formations and fairy chimneys around us. If we get lucky, we can also encounter some wild birds and animals. After a 3-hour walk, we’ll end up in Uchisar village where we’ll have a lunch break at a local restaurant. The Uchisar village is settled around a high promoter, which is called citadel. On top, we will see rewarding panoramic views on the surrealist Cappadocia area. In the afternoon, we follow a path to the Pigeon valley and arrive in Göreme for the night.

Day 5

Kavak and Sinasos

After a short bus ride, we arrive in Kavak where we begin our walk. The landscape of the region is also renowned for its wine and the fine fertile volcanic soil. We cross two typical villages, Bahceli and Ayvali where we will have the opportunity to experience authentic village life of central Anatolia. Our afternoon walk will take us to through the river to Gömede valley, where we will spend the night at a pension.

Day 6


Before we begin our walk, we will visit a surrealist rock formation and churches of Pancarlik Valley. The interesting sweeping curves on the valley flanks give a particular character to the region. We follow the river down to Ortahisar village and continue through Kızılcukur valley. Sometimes known as the ‘’red hole’’ Kızılcukur is probably the hottest valley in the region, also well-known for its wine production.

Day 7


In the morning, we will visit the Cavusin village, one of the most important religious center of Cappadocia. There will then be an optional walk up to Bozdağ mountain to enjoy scenic views on the surrounding areas. Afterwards, walk to Devrent valley and visit the Underground City at Kaymakli. Then continue to Göreme for the night.

Day 8


Transfer to the airport and fly to Istanbul. Check into the hotel and enjoy a free day in Istanbul.

Tour information

This trek is designed for all those interested in hiking. Daily distances are short and contain plenty of rest breaks. We, however, still recommend preparing for the trek with regular walks and exercise.
Summers in Cappadocia are usually hot and dry, and winters cold, but sunny. The daily temperatures fluctuate quite a bit after sunrise and sunset.


Visa and permit information
Please note that obtaining a visa and other valid travel documents, is entirely up to you. Please check with your embassy or Foreign Office well in advance to get the latest facts about your visa requirements. Please make sure that your passport is valid at least 6 (six) months after the trip.

Hiking Permits are purchased on your behalf and are included in the tour price. For this, it is important for you to upload a copy of your passport to your account’s information page. If this is not possible, you are always welcome to send the copy in PDF or image (JPG) format to

Check that the primary vaccinations are valid during the trip. Everyone traveling to Turkey is recommended to be vaccinated for Hepatitis A. Be sure to consult your doctor before your departure.

Having a valid travel insurance is mandatory on all of our trips. Please make sure to get a travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and trip related problems.


Your bigger luggage will stay at the hotel and you will only need to carry a small daypack on the trek. Make sure to take a bag that will fit your water bottle, sunscreen, camera, wallet and other smaller personal items that you might need on the way. The temperature in Cappadocia drops at nightfall so it might be a good idea to take something warmer with you as well.


Turkey's official language is Turkish. The Kurdish language is also spoken in the eastern parts of Turkey. English is widely spoken in most of the tourist areas.


Turkish currency is the Turkish lira (TRL). Also, euros may be accepted in some places in bigger cities. You can exchange money on the spot or withdraw money from an ATM. Most major credit cards are widely accepted in larger cities. 
It is customary to leave a tip of 10-15% of the total bill in a restaurant. It is also polite to tip the guides and drivers after the trip, the amount should be around €5 per day.

Meals in Cappadocia do not include beverages so be sure to have money for those. For any other meals not included in the package, € 10-20 per day should be sufficient.

Accommodation in local 3-4* hotels suitable for the destination. All hotel categories are set by the local standards. Please note that in some countries the hotel standards do not coincide with those on an international level.

Accommodation in international chain hotels, upmarket lodges or local 4-5* hotels. All hotel categories are set by the local standards. Please note that in some countries the hotel standards do not coincide with those on an international level.

Physical Activity

1 (Easy) - These tours are suitable for everyone and include a decent amount of walking.

2 (Medium) - These tours are suitable for everyone and include day hikes on various terrain, which are normally not mandatory.

3 (Hard) - These tours are suitable for people with an average fitness level and include day hikes and treks to various places, which are a mandatory part of the program.

4 (Very hard) -These tours are suitable for people with an intermediate level of fitness and include challenging treks on various terrain.

5 (Extreme) - These tours are suitable for people who are looking for some serious challenges. Have a good look at the program and do some research before committing to one of these tours.

What's included

All tours on include accommodation, local transport (excluding airport transfers if not stated otherwise), meals as specified, English speaking guide and all entrance fees.

What's not included

None of the tours on include international flights to/from the destination, travel insurance (mandatory), visas if necessary, gratuities to local staff, personal expenses, optional activities or airport transfers (if not stated otherwise).

Tour Cost and Group Size

The final cost of the tour is determined 45 days before departure when the group is automatically closed. Until that point, in case of vacancies, it is possible to join the group and, therefore, lower the cost for everyone.

The maximum group size is always noted in the pricing scheme on the tour page. Please note that all of our tours are guaranteed from two travelers.

Our pricing scheme applies to private groups as well and no extra charge is applicable. The maximum group size, however, stays the same as stated in the pricing scheme.

It is advisable to check the weather forecast of your destination a few days prior to departure.


Our and our local partners’ goal is to make everything go without any problems. However, sometimes the odds may not be in our favor and something may happen.

In case of problems on the road, please notify your tour guide first. It is important to give the local provider a chance to make things right.
